Twenty years ago this week, the United States passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It is said that approximately 54 million Americans have a disability. The definition given by the ADA is a “person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.” Thanks to this act, people who meet this definition have gained independence and a better quality of life.
