Luxurious and Affordable Travel Destinations

The Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay Jamaica

I had the pleasure of traveling to Jamaica twice and stayed at this resort both times. I took advantage of their “all inclusive” package and was not disappointed.

From the minute you enter the property you are relaxed. The landscaping is beautiful with an assortment of tropical trees, plants, and flowers. We were greeted nicely by a small group of hummingbirds and butterflies as we walked to the front doors of the resort and entered into a luxuriously decorated lobby.

The staff was courteous and anxious to help make our trip as wonderful as possible. The second time around we were given an upgraded accommodation and a gift basket with champagne was waiting for us after we checked in.

The grounds have a small waterpark which has something for everyone. A small slide on an inner-tube will splash you into a sparkling clean pool with a nice swim-up bar. I loved to pick up a nice fruity tropical cocktail then head over to the ‘lazy river’ to just take in the beauty of the property, once in a while hitting one of a few hot tubs along the way.

Along the beachfront are comfortable lounge chairs to relax on after a nice swim in the beautiful, crystal blue Caribbean ocean. There are polite waitstaff regularly walking around offering fresh fruit or to grab you another cocktail so you don’t have to move a muscle!

The food was incredible. You have a choice of restaurants and grills throughout the property. Breakfast is a buffet-style feast on the patio with omelette stations and plenty of delicious choices. Dinners can be either elegant or dressed down casual, but either choice will keep you happy with amazing island-style dishes along with an abundance of other meal choices.

This resort is so wonderful, you don’t even need to venture out for anything if you don’t want to. However, we did want to take in some local culture so we went to Dunn’s River Falls in Ocho Rios and hiked up the 600 foot waterfall. Definitely one of Jamaica’s most famous attractions, it is a “don’t miss” when you travel there. Make sure you wear swim clothes and bring a waterproof camera – special waterproof shoes are provided at the location. Tours are separated into groups, led by an entertaining and knowledgeable guide who will take your picture at various spots during your climb to the top. It’s a good idea to bring a little money with you for tipping and for the shopping area you will pass through after reaching the top.

I also highly recommend taking a catamaran out to the reef for some snorkeling (waterproof camera is good for this as well). Montego Bay offers the best snorkeling locations in Jamaica and there are a number of boat tours to choose from to accommodate whatever experience you have in mind.

You will enjoy a relaxing and fun vacation, where everything is “no problem, mon!”
